Morgan Hyatt
Illustrator • Printmaker
Morgan Hyatt (they/he) is a printmaker and illustrator based in Long Beach, CA. Their work explores the connection between disability, the queer body, and the natural world. They believe print is for the people and that art is always better made in community.
As a disabled printmaker I cherish the physicality of my work. Because of the laborious nature of the craft, my body feels connected to each finished print. My visual language pays homage to art of the home and of nature: scientific illustration, fiber art, and folk art. Having been housebound, I think a lot about this idea of home – as a place, a memory, a landscape, a body. Through this lens I create intimate pieces/prayers exploring disability, biological systems, the queer soul, and their place within the natural world.
